Some of the Areas WATO Connects for Resources, Support, and/or Protection

FAQ

Where does the money go?

We are committed to putting those we serve (our vulnerable populations first) by helping them with getting the resources they need and to be protected essential to the work we do. We are also committed to building and engaging in community to be the support structure to let others know these services are available, and stand together for those in need. These two activities is what makes us who we are.

We are committed to be volunteer led, staff supported. Right now the entire organization of WATO is being run by volunteers who are donating their time. There are staff. So besides the basic needs of insurance, a few admin costs, over 95% of the donations are going directly back to fulfilling our mission.

What is the difference between a pledge verses a donation?

A pledge is a commitment to make a donation for a certain amount over a set period of time. We are encouraging and inviting people to make a pledge of $100 over the year of 2025. A donation is actual making the donation (gift). When you may a pledge, you don't send any money or have your bank account/credit card processed. No money is sent to us. It is just the intention to gift the money. Example, I pledge $100 over the year 2025. So sometime over the year I will gift money to WATO. It is about intention. If you make an actual donation/gift, then you actual send over the money.

Are you a legal Non Profit Organization?

As of January 2nd, 2025 We Are The Others filed our legal business license with the state of Nevada. It takes 24 hours of approval. Once we are approved, we will update this as a YES!

Do you have tax exempt status?

We are in the process of filing for our federal tax exempt status, 501(c)3. We expect to be filing the paperwork no later than January 18th, 2025.

Why is there a "tip" feature with the donation?

We use the company/service "Zeffy" to handle all of our donation processing. www.Zeffy.com. This service allows for 100% of all the donations to go directly to the non-profit, serves havign a credit card transaction fee. Zeffy was created and built for non-profits in mind so we can best use every dollar gifted to us by our amazing supporters. Zeffy is also 100% free to non-profits and never will charge to use their processing service. Any money you choose to include as a "tip" is what Zeffy takes as their compensation. So if you leave zero tip, which is allowed, then Zeffy doesn't get any money. You leave a few dollars, then on behalf of Zeffy, thank you.
