Our Story

We Are The Others (WATO) is a 501(c)3 tax exempt nonprofit with a mission to help and protect the vulnerable in the United States. During this period of profound unrest and uncertainty, we’re making a stand to ensure that everyone feels Safe, Seen, Secured, and Supported.

Our team came together at the end of 2024 and launched this nonprofit Jan. 2025. We were founded in Reno/Sparks, Nevada, but set ourselves to be nationwide.

We Are The Others serves two functions: we are a community of solidarity for vulnerable populations, and we connect those in need with the resources and services that can help them (confidentially, and at no cost).

WATO is committed to helping people feel safe, seen, secure, and supported. From helping Grandma to get a new pair of glasses, to needing aid after a disaster, to finding resources about your rights, to assistance paying your bills… our commUNITY is here.

About the United Voices: Building a Resilient Neighborhood

Coming together under one summit

When we asked our community and listened, we kept hearing the request and plea....

What can "I do"?

I don't like what I am seeing in my neighberhood!

How can I help?

What should I be looking for or doing to help another.

Knowing there are several people who specialize already in civil rights, immigration, protection, caregiving, delivering resources, disaster response, safety, and so much more --- We Are The Others wanted to bring together various experts together. During this summit we want to educate, share stories to inspire, give practical resources, and empower people so they can come together in solidarity, resiliency, and support for those in need, loved ones, and their fellow neighbors.. But it starts with having informed and impactful speakers to guide us.

This is where you could come in. We Are The Others is looking for speakers to come join our virtual summit. Do you have a topic that you feel aligns with our summit? Fill out the application/interest/key. information below.

(If you don't have all the details yet, that is fine. We want our speakers selected by June 27th and then a few more days to finalize the rest of the details).

What times/days are the sessions?

The summit is August 6th and 7th.

We will start with a keynote/opening at 9am pacific, then a session at the top of each hour till noon (where we will do a fireside chat/lunch break). Then finish the day at 4pm. And the last session with a closing keynote. If you want to be a keynote speaker, please let us know.

What is the format?

This summit with be virtual. We request you have a strong wifi, camera, and microphone. You will be able to do a screen share or send over your presentation and we can click for you next slides.

We will have a tech production crew who will aid with the visual prodution elements (we/they use the software ecamm with zoom). We will also have an emcee for the event, and moderators for the chat during the session. We will also host a tech/QA session for the speakers and the tech team so everyone is comfortable going into this event. Our job is to make this easy for you to share your wisdom.

Does this Summit charge for tickets?

Anyone can sign up for a free admission ticket. However if they want to get a recording of the sessions (good for up to 6 months), then they need to give a donation of any amount to We Are The Others. If they want the highest level ticket ($97), that gives them the recording, plus access to the fireside chat. And again, these donations support We Are The Others.

What is the Fireside Chat?

We will be having a fireside chat during the lunch session. The idea is people who purchase an upgraded ticket can have a more personal interaction/act questions with the speakers, experts, or key people who can assist them. This is not required, but encouraged. The money that comes from this ticket upgrade goes to support the WATO nonprofit.

Is this a Paid speaking?

No, we do invite and encourage people to share a way people can stay engaged, join their email list, etc. for the organnization they are connected with.
